The Tegallalang rice terraces sit north of Ubud, cut into both sides of a steep valley. The swings are built on its edge: as you swing forward there is a hundred metres of open air and the tops of palm trees beneath your feet.
There are swings at different heights — the lowest is one children ride too, the highest is pulled back on a rope and released. Every swing has a harness and an operator pushing; how high you go is your decision.
The same site has bird-nest platforms, a glass-floored terrace and a rope bridge out over the valley. A resident photographer covers the swings, and you can shoot on your own phone as well.

The swing launches from the valley edge and the arc points directly at the Tegallalang terraces.
Low, medium and high options. If you’re nervous, the low swing gives you the same view.
Extra platforms included in the entry: the bird nest, the glass terrace and the rope bridge. You can take photos without riding the swing at all.

Small, important notes
Before 9am there is no queue and the light is softer. In the afternoon the wait can reach 30 minutes.
Long, flowing dresses make the best photographs and dresses can be hired on site. Wear comfortable shoes; the paths are dirt.
Swings stop in the rain for safety. Rain in Bali is usually short and waiting it out is normally enough.
