About the experience
A roar by day, a glint by night.
Bali Safari & Marine Park sits in Gianyar, between Ubud and Sanur, across roughly forty hectares. The animals are kept in open habitats rather than cages, and you drive through those habitats in a safari vehicle. The Indonesian, Indian and African sections are laid out separately.
On the day tour the vehicle moves slowly and a ranger points out where each animal is. Komodo dragons, Sumatran tigers, white lions and zebra are the most anticipated stops. In the midday heat many animals lie in the shade, so mornings are livelier.
The night safari is a different experience altogether. After dark the same route is driven by lamplight and the nocturnal animals come out. The two are sold as separate tickets; both can be done on the same day.

Small, important notes
Separate tickets. The day tour runs 09:00–17:00, the night safari after dark. Both on the same day is possible but makes a long one.
At midday most animals retreat to shade. Early morning or late afternoon is livelier.
The park also runs show programmes. They are included in the ticket but not compulsory; your guide gives you the schedule and the choice is yours.
